Hello, I am Amber! I am an Ohio transplant, a movie quote aficionado, book nerd, recovering perfectionist, and working mom. I am so excited to be counted among some amazing contributors here on the Mid-Michigan Moms Blog!
I moved to Grand Blanc, Michigan in the early Spring of 2017 from Columbus, Ohio with my husband, our 1-year-old son Nathan, and our two rescue pups. My husband Mike is a Michigan man who has always wanted to move back to his home state, so when his job presented the opportunity we said yes to adventure.
Prior to that move I was a new mom and working fulltime outside of the home. I spent the majority of my career working in the non-profit sector, specifically in education advocacy and I never saw myself as a stay at home {or work from home} mother. I am passionate about access to quality education and resources for families and that passion drove a ten-year career. Although that passion is as strong now as it ever was, motherhood swooped in and changed everything including a desire to be at home with my son. So, my husband accepted a new position, I accepted a part-time remote position in data analytics, we sold our home and were on the road headed north all in the span of 30 days. Sometimes you have to rip off the band-aid and go for it!
Since moving here we have had so much fun getting acquainted {for me} and reacquainted {for my husband} with the state up north. We have a few local favorites and a few places that have earned a place in our hearts. We know there is still so much to explore and we intend to continue making memories and solidifying a love for The Mitten State. I have really enjoyed how much there is to do outdoors here! We have spent ample time exploring parks, lakes, and scenic views with changing leaves as far as the eye can see. I must admit, that first winter was a bit of a surprise… so much snow! I adore white Christmases and all things pertaining to the Holiday season, so really I can’t be too mad about it.
Blogging has been an amazing creative outlet for me and provides a way for me to connect and encourage other mothers. Being in a new place can be lonely and motherhood can feel isolating so my hope with each post I write is to make you feel less alone, perhaps laugh a little, and solidify how amazing we are as moms.
This journey of life and motherhood is a wild and crazy ride and I couldn’t be more grateful that I get to share these experiences with you all!
