Faith in Humanity: 5 Mindful Ways To Restore It

With so much negativity thrown at us in the news and social media, it’s sometimes hard to remember the world isn’t all bad. In fact, most of the world is good. I’ve learned that “what you look for is what you’ll see” and I want to see the good news. I want to turn my attention away from the politics and rhetoric. I want to feel good about the world we live in and teach my children that even though the news and most social media outlets present the world as a bad place, it’s NOT! So, here are a few ways to restore your faith in humanity

1. Utilize Several Different Platforms of News & Social Media

When we use multiple sources of information, the diversity is greater and the likelihood to see better things is greater. Subscribe to pages and accounts that promote goodness, faith in humanity and positivity. Follow sites that tell stories of triumph and courage. It’s a much better way to get your daily dose of news. Here are a couple examples:

2. Be Mindful of Your Own Interactions on Social Media

Share the awesome stories that encourage and lift you up. Comment with your positive thoughts on uplifting subjects. Avoid drama with other online personas. It’s so easy to hide behind a computer and say hurtful things to others. It’s OK to have a different point of view. It’s NOT ok to berate and/or personally attack others. Remember to treat others the way you would want to be treated.

3. Get Involved

Find events and organizations in and around your community to become involved with. Doing so fuels faith in humanity moments that you can create all on your own by doing things for others and enjoying it. This not only feeds your own soul but sets an example for our children and others.

The far-reaching Mid-Michigan Moms group helps keep track of all the different events you can attend and the organizations you can become part of, in and around our hometown communities. Know your options and find a good fit!

4. Mindfulness, for the WIN!

I feel like a broken record sometimes talking about mindfulness, BUT it’s the real deal folks. When you are mindful of your own words, actions, and reactions you become, well… mindful. You care about the present moment and put that at the forefront of your well being, which in turn contributes to the greater good of humanity.

5. Elevate Your Life by Uplifting Your Emotional State of Mind

You know what I’m talking about. That warm, fuzzy feeling you get when you treat a stranger to a random act of kindness {or witness one}. Not only does it boost our positive emotions, it also inspires us to be better people and encourages love for our fellow humans.

Moral of the story here is… if you want to see good in others. Be good and do good for others.

Faith in humanity, restored.
