Hi! I’m Kourtnie, a stay at home mom from Brown City, with a full house and a full plate. I like to take it day by day and enjoy the little moments and giggles with my family. I have a passion for my babies, CrossFit, healthy eating, and ice cream. Oops! Everything in moderation, right?
I’m a mom to my sweet and inquisitive 4-year-old son, Tatum, and to my sassy and cuddly 17-month-old daughter, Delilah. I am also a “bonus” mom to my 11-year-old tween, Brandon, and a dog mom to our Goldendoodle, Piper. I have been married to my husband, Neil, for 5 years. We moved into Brown City a year ago, after my husband was hired as the principal of the high school here. We bought an old brick ranch that we were able to renovate and we love it!
I grew up and went to school in Marine City, home of the Mariners, and after graduation attended Oakland University for one year then transferred to Wayne State, where I completed my B.S. in Nutrition and Food Science. After graduating from college, I wasn’t completely sure what my plans were. I ended up applying and being accepted into AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps, where I completed 10 months of community service across the country. I then began my M.S. in Health Education at the University of Michigan- Flint and I just need to finish my thesis to graduate. I have been a SAHM since my son was born and work part-time from home selling and coaching for the health and nutrition company, AdvoCare.
We are a huge sports family, with my “bonus” son involved in basketball, baseball, soccer and football and my little guy is just getting started playing his first year of baseball this past summer. We also have season tickets to the Michigan State football games, so that makes for a busy fall schedule!
As for me, I was always an athlete throughout school but once I went to college there weren’t many options. Until, 2.5 years ago, when I started doing CrossFit, I finally started to feel like an athlete again. I love it so much, that when we moved last year, I put a gym in my garage because there isn’t a CrossFit box, (that’s what we call the gym) close enough. I was so grateful to be able to continue CrossFit throughout my pregnancy with my daughter. It’s been such a game changer for me in so many different ways…….but that’s another post!
We love our little town of Brown City! It’s super quaint but we love going to the park, taking walks around town, and visiting the library. We also spend a lot of time at the school, going to different school events and sports.
I am so excited to start this journey with GCMB. I love my small town and I can’t wait to share and experience this wonderful part of our lives with you all!
