Oh, the summertime bathing suit dilemma. I was recently inspired by a YouTube video by #IMOMSOHARD…which I am almost positive that if you are reading GCMB, then you have probably seen this hilarious and totally honest video. If you have not, please give yourself a couple of minutes to laugh and watch.it.right.now. I know that I shouldn’t be so vain and concerned about this topic, but I have been on the hunt for a bathing suit for an unreasonable amount of time. It should not be this difficult to find a cute and appropriate bathing suit, that is not meant for my grandma to wear.
What Suit Can My Boobs Fit Into?
So, I’m 32 years old, and I’m stuck somewhere between the “junior” department and the “misses” department. I am assuming that all of the moms within this category face the same battle when we are shopping for clothes, but bathing suit shopping takes this to a whole different level. The juniors bathing suits are always the cutest prints and colors. They look great on the hangers, on 18-year-olds, and the bodies of women who have yet to birth a child. The bottoms are so tiny, they barely cover anything, let alone attempt to conceal or compress any of the slight imperfections that we may have. The tops are also a serious issue. If we are breastfeeding, we always have to buy bigger sizes to support the “extra volume” and we need enough coverage to prevent any “wardrobe malfunctions.” On the other hand, having a baby, breastfeeding or not, our bodies are just different after carrying a child. I DO NOT mean this in a negative way, whatsoever. After, breastfeeding two kids until they were 16 months and 23 months old, these boobs are definitely not what they used to be!
Finding the Suit Online
Online shopping is my jam, so I thought it would be a good idea to just order a bunch of suits to try on at home. It’s just easier, all around, to do the trying on process at home. So, I found some suits that caught my eye. A one piece suit, a couple so-called mid-rise bottoms with a few different mix and match tops. I was really excited because they looked really cute online, so when they were delivered, I tried them on right away. ZERO of them fulfilled my expectations…ALL were returned in the mail the next day. It’s been like that with everything I’ve bought online and tried on in the store. I just can’t seem to find that one suit that just fits me in all the right places.
Bathing Suit Trends
I absolutely love the trends of the high-waisted bottoms, cropped and tank style tops, and the fact that more coverage seems to be making a bigger appearance with more one piece suits on the market. I think that it’s so important to be able to be comfortable in our clothes and especially in a bathing suit! With all clothes, it’s an expression of ourselves and our personality. I love clothes and being creative with them and I feel the same when it comes to my bathing suit. I want it to fit my personality but also be comfortable and confident while wearing it.
Big Bucks for Bathing Suits
There are a couple websites that I have found that I have been holding off on ordering from, simply because the price of the suits are pretty high. Although, the suits on these two websites are, by far, the cutest that I have seen and are right up my alley as far as prints and style. I keep questioning the price of the suits but TBH if I found a suit that I loved I would definitely be wearing it for more than one summer and would totally get my moneys worth out of it. Needless to say, I may be taking the plunge and ordering a few suits this week. #wishmeluck
Ok, so it’s July, and I have yet to find a suit that fits my needs and makes me feel amazing while wearing it and I refuse to buy something that does not give me this satisfaction. Summer is about being with our kids and making memories! Not worrying about chasing them around and being super uncomfortable in a bathing suit.
Do you have any tips on where I can find a great fitting and cute suit? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
