5 Tips to Make The Sloan Museum’s Rainforest Adventure Maze & Tropical Odyssey Exhibit a Family Hit!

Swing like a spider monkey! Glide like a butterfly! We were so excited to check out Sloan Museum’s newest exhibit, Rainforest Adventure & Tropical Odessey, at the Courtland Center. Our kids went wild as they explored one of the least-known habitats on Earth!

First, you become submerged in the sights & sounds of a tropical rainforest while you are met with physical & mental challenges to descend through the four layers of the rainforest in the Rainforest Adventure Maze. Next up is the Tropical Odessey where you follow the lifecycle of a butterfly as you explore sustainable butterfly farming in the rainforest.

Here are our tips to make this experience a memorable one for the whole family:

  1. Put Your Thinking Cap On
    • In order to navigate the maze, you have to read questions and answer them correctly to move on to the next level of the rainforest. Take your time, read the information, & soak up as much information as you can to navigate through the maze.
  2. Have Your Camera Ready
    • On each stage of the maze, there are activities and tons of photo opportunities. You can zip line like a monkey swinging in the trees, make your way through a sea of rope vines, or pose for a picture in a giant chrysalis.
  3. Bring the Whole Family
    • This exhibit is family friendly. It can entertain all ages from toddler to teen to mom and dad and grandma and grandpa. The learning aspect is well versed and easy to read and understand for all ages to enjoy and learn.
  4. Snacks Available
    • Snacks are available in the gift shop, and visitors can eat in the café area. Full meals are available right nearby at the very yummy El Cozumel restaurant!

  5. Save Time to Play
    • Once you’ve made your way through mazes there is a play area to let the little ones run! This area, Wisner’s Whizbang Emporium, is complete with a play house, toddler jungle gym, kitchen food and tables, puzzles, puppets, blocks, & more!
