Just over five years ago, we welcomed a handsome miracle into our lives: you! From the beginning you have been the light of our lives; always making us laugh, giving us so much happiness that we didn’t know we could have, and a love that we didn’t know existed. You have brought us so much joy, it’s truly indescribable.

Here we are five years later. In just a couple of weeks, we will be welcoming another miracle into our lives. You are going to be a big brother. When I think about it, it’s hard to imagine that my “baby” is going to be a big brother. It’s only been you for the past five years. You’ve been the center of our universe.
So, here’s what I want you to know before your role changes from only child to big brother:
- You will always have a special place in my heart as my first-born. You made me a mom, you have taught me how to be a mom, and you have taught me how unconditional love really is.
- You will still be the center of our universe. Just because you won’t be the only child anymore doesn’t mean that you won’t be just as important as you are right now. You will always be the most important to us & your brother or sister will also be included in that role.
- We will always have a special bond. You were born on my birthday; that in & of itself is something that makes our bond so much more special. You are my “birthday buddy” and I will always make sure you know that you are the greatest gift I have ever received.
- You are going to be the BEST big brother! You have been so sweet throughout my entire pregnancy; always rubbing my belly & kissing it, saying how much you love “your” baby. You have already demonstrated just how amazing you are going to be with your new sibling and I am so incredibly grateful I will be able to watch you form a special relationship with him/her.
- You will ALWAYS be my baby. Whether you are 5 years old, 25 years old, or 50 years old, you will always be my first-born, my sweet miracle baby. You will always be momma’s boy, my buddy boy; and I will ALWAYS love you more than I could ever begin to say.

I want you to know that you have been the biggest blessing in our lives and we are so excited to see just how wonderful a big brother you are going to be. You are the best part of our lives and we are grateful that God chose us to be your parents and you to be the big brother to your new sibling.
We can’t wait to see the bond that forms between the two of you because we know that our love is only going to multiply. We love you so much, buddy boy!
