My son has a love for all things that ‘go’. Cars, trucks, buses, airplanes, trains – you name it, he’s downright infatuated. So, imagine the joy and excitement that overcame him when he had the chance to come face to face with one of his favorite trains – Thomas!

Day Out With Thomas Big Adventures Tour {Thomas the Tank Engine, along with Sir Topham Hatt and Bob the Builder}, has taken over Crossroads Village and Huckleberry Railroad. You have got to check it out~ For two weekends, ending August 26th, Thomas and his friends have turned Crossroads Village into a Thomas the Tank Engine lovers dreamland.
What is a Day Out With Thomas Big Adventures Tour Like?
Your day starts by checking in at the ticket counter where kids receive the cutest ‘passport’ and map. They can use their passport throughout the village to collect stamps and when they’ve collected four stamps, they can redeem a small prize in the gift shop. The map – oh boy the map – my son loves maps, he adores navigating our family and discovering destinations. The map is great because it lays out the entire village and clearly labels all there is to see along the way.

Before or after your train ride, you can check out a Bob the Builder performance, get your photo with Sir Topham Hatt, get crafty at the Imagination Station, grab a meal or snack at numerous locations, get a {temporary} tattoo, burn some energy at the bounce houses or pop in to a storytime.
Next up, what we’ve all been waiting for…the train ride! Our kids absolutely adored getting their tickets checked and punched by the conductor and finding our waiting line. After a brief wait, we boarded the train, found seats, and took in the sounds, smells, and feel of the vintage passenger car. After a cute Thomas themed announcement, we were off. The train ride is nearly 45 minutes {just enough time for the baby to catch a cat nap and the two-year-old to maintain her sanity} with periodical announcements from the conductor keeping the kids entertained and engaged. When the train ride came to an end, we hopped off just as easily as we boarded and the kids got a cute completion certificate. We rounded out our day with a few more photo ops on main street and hand-dipped ice cream cones.

They Though of Everything
As a family of five, with children aged 4, 2, and 7 months, I was delighted to discover how family friendly this experience was. Bathrooms around every corner, signs ensuring you know where you are going, baby changing stations, stroller parking, and countless opportunities for kids to be entertained at every turn. My kids were not bored for a single minute of our three-hour visit, in fact, their excitement built over the course of the day.
In addition to the Thomas themed activities, you can also visit the vintage rides, farm animals, and restored 19th century buildings that call the village home.

We were excited for our Day Out With Thomas, but could in no way have anticipated the experience that our would children have. Three days later, they are still talking about the train ride and playing make-believe with their passports and tickets. Looking back at our day and the memories made, we are anxious to experience this day again next year and add Day Out With Thomas to our growing list of family traditions!
It’s not too late for your chance to visit Thomas the Tank Engine at Day Out With Thomas Big Adventures Tour.
