You’re Doing a Great Job: A Message for All Moms

This week I received the sweetest text from my mom’s sister. My aunt sent me a text complimenting a DIY photo I had posted to my social media and then went on to say this:

“You are living the dream with your family. Your house is truly a home and it’s so neat to see you in this phase of your life. Parenting and being a stay-at-home-mom is very hard but the payoff is priceless. I think that the hardest part of parenting at the stage you’re in, is feedback. You, as a mom, and Zac as a dad, need praise and reassurance that you’re doing a great job.”

The text truly warmed my heart. But she was right, it can be discouraging that I don’t hear that “good job” as often as I wish. Just as simple as that.

We all know that some days are hard. Some days it just feels like all we can do is hold it together until bedtime. And those days, I just need to hear that I’m doing well at this thing called motherhood. I think we all could hear that more often, to reassure that we are successful as moms.

So here it is:

You’re doing a great job.

You are doing the most important job there is: raising your children to be the strong, influential people of tomorrow.

Whether you’re a working mom, a stay-at-home mom, or a mix of the two, you are exactly where your family needs you to be.

Your children love you and look up to you.

You are their rock and their safety.

Everything you do, your children watch.

Everything you say, your children listen to.

There is nobody more important to them than you.

You’re doing a great job.

No matter where you are, be all there.

No matter what it is that you’re struggling with, keep pushing through.

You can do this.

You are strong.

You are able.

You’re doing a great job.

And don’t let anyone else tell you any differently.

Have a great day, mamas. You are all amazing.
