Summer boredom is gone and school is back in session! How is that even possible? September is here!
We’ve got some events to help fill your calendar to pass the time while your kiddos are gone during the day, and even some fantastic weekend activities. Grab your coffee and your calendar and let’s get marking!
Genesee District Library – September is National Library Card Sign-Up Month! Visit any of your GDL branches during the month of September to sign up and receive your library card along with a savings sheet that will get you discounts all month long!
September 1 – 8
9/1 – Home Depot is getting us ready for football with today’s Kids Workshop! From 9am until 12pm, your child(ren) will be able to make a Field Goal Game. Be sure to register so that your store has the necessary supplies for your child(ren) to create! And don’t forget – snack and juice box afterwards!
9/1 – Join Tanger Outlets in Howell as they celebrate this Labor Day weekend with a Food Truck Festival! From 11am until 5pm each day this weekend, enjoy some amazing treats from a variety of food trucks while you shop, play mini-golf and relax under the big tent with music! We hope to see you out this weekend!
9/4 – Head over to Genesee Valley Center in Flint today from 10am until 11am for the MallWalker Kickoff Event! Coffee and snacks will be served, not to mention prizes along the way! Come out and be a part of monthly meetings, milestone recognitions, screenings and more! We hope to see you out!
9/4 – Head to Corunna tonight and enjoy Food Trucks and Vendors at McCurdy Park from 5pm until 8pm! This is sure to be a fun evening with the family! Good eats and some fun, local shopping! We’ll see you there!
9/5 – Family Yoga Nights this Summer has fast become a favorite in our home! Head to Fenton tonight from 7pm until 7:45pm, with your mat or beach towel in hand, for music, games and gentle yoga postures, too. Held outside on the grounds of the Community Center (weather permitting),this event is great for ALL ages! We hope to see you there!
9/7 – Join us in Midland today from 10am until 11:30am for Storytime at Dow Gardens. All ages are welcome and there will be an activity to follow! We’ll see you there!
9/7 – It’s Woods-N-Water weekend in Mid-Michigan! Head to Imlay City this weekend to the Eastern Michigan Fairgrounds for Michigan’s largest Fall outdoor show with lots of exhibitors, puppy tent, chili cook-off, live animal display and so much more! We hope to bump into there!
9/7 – It’s HollyDays in downtown Holly this weekend! Join us as the Village comes together to host a weekend full of fun events to celebrate the community! There will be Emergency Vehicles on display, a Fish Fry, Music and Trivia, Fireworks and so much more! We hope to see you there!
9/8 – Head over to Burton for Dino-Craft & Story Time today at Courtland Center Mall from 10am until 12pm. Hosted by the Sloan Musuem, this is sure to be a roaring time! There will be stories and crafts and when done, visit Dinosaurs Unearthed – a favorite of ours at Mid-Michigan Moms Blog!
9/8 – Join us in downtown Owosso today from 11am until 4pm for ArtWalk Owosso! This is a FREE community event that will give you the opportunity to stroll along historic downtown and visit some boutique’s and meet artists! There will hands on experiences for kids of all ages. We hope to see you there!
9/8 – Meet us at the Dort Federal Credit Union Event Center today from 12pm until 5pm for FOX66 Fall Festival 2018! There will be lots of vendor booths and lots of free activities including massages, laser tag, petting zoos, inflatables, face painting and SO MUCH MORE! And the best part? This is a FREE event! We will be there, rain or shine, so we hope to see you there!
9/8 – Head to Freeland today for Arts in the Park 2018! From 1pm until 7pm, be a part of this 21+ event that will include wine, food, live music and art! We hope to see you there!
September 9 – 15
9/11 – Join us at The Captain’s of Woodfield in Grand Blanc tonight from 5pm until 8pm for Taste of Grand Blanc. With over 25 different venues bringing in samples, you are sure to not leave hungry! We hope to see you out and about!
9/13 – Looking for a dinner idea tonight? Head to Frankenmuth from 3pm until 9pm for Frankenmuth Funtown Chowdown Food Truck Festival (I’m hungry even just saying that mouthful!) This is the last of the season to enjoy the fun at River Place. Lots of food options and family fun to be had by all! We hope to see you there!
9/13 – Join us tonight at the Beecher-Vera B. Rison branch of the GDL for Family Game Night! From 5pm until 7pm, you are invited to be “board”, as you and your family join in a night of family fun! Arrive early and enjoy light refreshments! We hope to see you there!
9/14 – Chippewa Nature Center in Midland is hosting Wee Stroll today from 9:30am until 10:30am. Join us as we go on a nature walk with our child(ren) to learn about the outdoors and introduce our child(ren) to nature. We hope to see you there!
9/15 – Mid-Michigan Children’s Museum in Saginaw is hosting a Touch-A-Truck event today from 9:30am until 4pm. Get up close and personal with construction equipment and farm equipment, emergency vehicles and more! There is so much to explore today, including giveaways and hot dogs – all for FREE! We hope to see you out today!
9/15 – Join us at Goodrich Commons today from 10am until 4pm for Bounce in the Park! Wristbands are $5 and will get you a day full of inflatables! Not to mention that there will be Food Trucks and so much more! We hope to see you there!
9/15 – We love the Flint Farmers Market, but today, we LOVE it even more! Join us from 11am until 4:30pm for Meet & Greet at the Market! Four princesses from Everafter will be at the Farmers Market today to meet your child(ren). Get ready! Bring your camera! We’ll see you there!
September 16 – 22
9/16 – Head to Bay City today from 12pm until 2pm for Youth Yoga in Wenonah Park! This is a FREE event for your grade school children to introduce them to the benefits of practicing yoga. Bring your mat or a towel and stick around for water and fudgecicles afterwards! We hope to see you there!
9/16 – Head west to Hemlock for Touch a Truck & Trunk or Treat today at Richland Township Park from 12pm until 2pm. Touch and climb and trick or treat! Costumes are welcome, but not required. We hope to see you there!
9/19 – Head to the Montrose-Jennings branch of the GDL for Painted Rocks today from 3pm until 4pm. Geared towards kids ages 5 to 17, be a part of this rock phenomenon by painting and then placing around town! We hope to see you there!
9/20 – Head to Baker Park Library in Burton today from 3pm until 4pm for Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald. Shipwreck expert Ric Mixter will be onsite to share his knowledge of the day that the “gales of November came early” and the Mighty Fitz took its fatal plunge. We hope to see you there and learn about this amazing piece of history!
9/22 – Join us today at the Swartz Creek branch of the GDL for Galactic Goo! With the help of an educator from Sloan Longway, from 11am until 12pm, your child(ren), ages 6 to 12, will learn about chemistry without even realizing it! And that galactic goo? Everyone will get a bag to take home! We hope to see you there!
September 23 – 30
9/23 – Join us in Bay City today for Free Movie Sunday – Shrek. From 1pm until 3:35pm, head to the State Theater for this FREE event (with a non-perishable food item). We hope to see you there!
9/25 – Join us tonight at R&B Used Books in Grand Blanc for Pajama Storytime! From 5:30pm until 6:30pm, there will be stories, crafts and snacks! PJ’s slippers, blankets and stuffed animals are encouraged! We hope to see you out to end our night right!
9/28 – Head to Clarkston Family Farm tonight from 7pm until 10pm for Fall Family Fest! FREE admission with lots of activities, including yard games, a 3-legged race, music and an outdoor movie! Dress for the weather and we hope to see you there!
9/29 – Head to the Goodrich branch of your GDL today from 11am until 12pm for Paws to Read! Miss Katie will read stories while her four-legged friends practice listening and getting lots of petting! We hope to see you there!
9/30 – It is Story Book Day at Grandma’s Pumpkin Patch in Midland! Join us today from 12pm until 2pm as two princesses will be onsite for a meet and greet and story book time! Dress as a story book character and receive $1 off the $7 admission. We hope to see you there!
9/30 – Join us in Clarkston today for Taste of Clarkston from 12pm until 6pm. The city will close Main Street this afternoon to allow for 50 food vendors and exhibitors to line both sides of the street for sampling. Be among the nearly 18,000 people who came out last year to participate in all the fun to be had! We hope to see you there!
9/30 – Head north to Midland tonight from 6pm until 7pm at Midland Center for the Arts for ILuminate! ILuminate is an international dance sensation who made their debut on America’s Got Talent. Awake your senses and imagination for this electrifying fusion of technology and dance! This is sure to be a hit for children of ALL ages! We hope to see you there!
