MidMiMB :: Motherhood Rocks Our World

Motherhood is hard work.  It’s the only job that will consume your whole life and your whole heart.  It’s also the only job that makes you feel all the emotions.  At Mid-Michigan Moms Blog we’re here to make this job of raising children a little easier, and this giant “hood” feel a little bit smaller, and this Mother’s Day we are celebrating all the mamas especially the ones that make up our team.

As it turns out, one of the most wonderful joys of motherhood is the other mothers.

These women bare it all in words so that another woman may feel less alone, seek the help she needs, or just to offer up lessons or little tips to ease up the pressures on a mother.  We are so appreciative of this group who not only rocks it on the writing front but in events, playdates, and Moms Nights Out – as you can see we’re 100% sold that we have the best team in all of the City Moms Blog Network!

We’re celebrating these moms by sharing a little piece of their mama heart on this Mother’s Day!

The best piece of parenting advice I was ever given;

Apologize to your kids when you screw up. It teaches them that you’re “Mom” but still human and that’s important. – Lacy

Don’t try to be a perfect mom, just be the mom your kids need. – Amanda F.

You are the expert on your baby: take advice that works for you, and leave the rest. – Melody

Don’t argue about the Halloween princess dress your daughter wants to wear every day when she is 6, save that energy to argue about the clothes she wants to wear at 16. – Sarah G.

Be in the moment more than worrying about the future. – Kendra

At the end of the day it’s on you, so don’t worry about everyone else’s opinions. Do what you can live with. – Stephanie M.

Don’t blink. – Erica

The days are long but the years are short. – Colleen

Motherhood makes me;

A more compassionate person. – Amber

Challenge my beliefs and makes me a better person. My perspective on motherhood totally changed after giving birth. It transformed my limited illusion of a Hallmark version of motherhood that I had yet experienced into a physical role that was both guide and teacher. Motherhood is simply loving and becoming the bumpers on the bowling lane of life. When I realized children are going to grow up to be whoever they were always going to be, the focus of my responsibility became influencing instead of controlling. – Amanda R.

Discover a new love for others. – Lyndsey

{my} appreciation for my own mother skyrocket! – Amanda P.

A better human. – Jess S.

One thing I wish I knew before becoming a mom;

Motherhood is hard and messy for everyone. The moms who seem to have it all together go home to their own struggles. Comparison is the thief of joy! – Kristie

It is relentlessly hard, but that all that unending difficulty is more than repaid by the relentless joy and unending wonder children bring into your life. – Katie A

That literally every relationship in my life would change to some extent. – Christine

A milestone I’ll never forget is;

My daughter’s first belly laugh because my husband and I laughed so hard right along with her that we had tears in our eyes. It was such a perfect moment of pure joy. – Jess A.

The first time he called me mom to someone else. – Mandy

When you don’t have to worry about them falling down the stairs! – Mary C.

Seeing my first baby become a big sister! – Melissa
