Hi! I’m Stephanie, a wife to my high school sweet heart Ryan, as well as a homeschooling mom of three. My three kiddos are nine years and under, however soon we hope to be going back into the baby phase through adoption. While I grew up in a subdivision in Fenton, my sweet little tribe has moved out of the traditional neighborhood setting. We can now be found down a little dirt road where country and lake life meet in Byron. That’s right: we traded in the subdivision life where we started for a little more room to run, garden, have water fun, and raise chickens. I’m excited to share some of our life and perhaps some encouragement with you here, at the Mid Michigan Moms Blog.
I have a passion for healthy living and love gardening, recipes, and clean products. While I am focused on raising up babes to be mighty men and women one day, I also dabble in running two businesses. For the business I run with my husband {who has a different 9-5 type engineering job} we fix up homes in Flint and rent to collegiate students near Kettering University. Go Bulldogs! My other business is in direct sales and has to do with my love for living a healthy, toxin free lifestyle. Most importantly I’m passionate about loving people well like Jesus. To do so I organize a women’s ministry online with local events to encourage women to walk out their God given purpose daily.
On a typical day you can find me attempting to homeschool my kids, while writing a book or attending to either ministry or business. I also do the laundry here and there! If I’m not a home, I’m typically running up to Flint to work on our collegiate rental homes and feeding “our college kids.” I know, they’re adults and not kids, but that’s how I express endearment! While my husband and I enjoy fixing up beautiful old Flint homes and running rental the business, our favorite caveat is preparing the students dinner. We love to pull up chairs with them, discuss life both present and future, then share any wisdom and encouragement we have. It’s a great opportunity to give back and serve the neighborhoods of Flint near KU. It’s also fun to pick out paint, and pretend to be Joanna Gaines for a moment. If I’m being honest, I also like demo and jumping through plaster walls…so I guess I pretend to be Chip, too, from time to time.
Slow and being still are two concepts that are just starting to grow on me. I love a good challenge like learning to do a simple dive off a swim platform, or zip lining to overcome my fear of heights. But I’m finding more and more in this fast pace culture full of of distraction, I’m most at peace when I take time to nourish my family and myself. I see the world through a lens of love and truth, but also risk analysis. I hope you’ll join me right here on the Mid Michigan Mom’s blog as I sort out life and loving others.
