June is here and school is out for summer! You know what else that means? There is a FESTIVAL (and fireworks) nearly everywhere you turn for the next couple of months. Happening June 14th – August 19th, on Wednesdays and Saturdays, children ages 11 and under can catch the Summer Film Series at EMAGINE theaters for FREE! Check out the schedule of movie showings and details here!
While technically it begins May 28th, Mount Morris Sesquicentennial Celebration runs through June 3rd and has some pretty amazing things happening including a Parade on May 29th. The celebration weekend winds down at 9 pm on June 3rd with Fireworks at Mt. Morris Middle School. Be sure to check out their Facebook page to find a complete list of time and events happening.
Genesee County Parks and Recreation has an amazing Family Fun Guide that is out (May – October). There are so many FREE and low-cost activities for you and your family to participate in throughout the county! Check them out. There is something for everyone.

June 1st – June 4th – What is better than living in Genesee County in June? Knowing that Swartz Creek Hometown Days is happening! We feel so welcome to this party of this city every year during Hometown Days. Check out the awesome parade, car show, rides, food, fun & more!
June 2nd – First Friday’s Food Truck Festival in the Grand Blanc High School parking lot. Food, entertainment, Kids’ Zone and a Vintage Car Show hosted by the Sloan Museum. We had so much fun at the very first Food Truck Festival last month, we cannot wait for this one to roll around!
June 2nd – Longway Planetarium is hosting First Fridays: Trivia Night! Fun for the whole family! Trivia under the dome, a chance to win small prizes and a 7pm showing of “Violent Universe“!
June 2nd – June 3rd – Join us in downtown Lapeer for Art on Nepessing Street. Returning for its 4th year, this is an event that will feature your favorite Downtown Lapeer businesses, a pub crawl, beer tent, entertainment and of course some amazing art.
June 3rd – Our favorite (and FREE) monthly kids workshop is back at Home Depot! Check out the Tic Tac Toe Game being built this month. Have fun building with your child(ren) and continue the fun at home.
June 3rd – Allstate Insurance: Kathy Brundle is hosting a Fire Safety & Child ID event in Grand Blanc. The Grand Blanc Fire Department and its firefighters will be on site with fire trucks. Sergeant Simpson and K9 Officer Jimi from the Grand Blanc Township Police Department will be on site issuing Child IDs. There will be a “Spin the Wheel” for prizes and free smoke detectors (to the first 50 families).
June 3rd – Southern Lakes Parks & Recreation will be at Bush Park in Fenton today hosting Touch A Truck. Kids and kids at heart will have a chance to explore fire trucks, police cars, boom trucks and more! You will also have a chance to learn how these vehicles are used in our own communities. Stick around and join the Fenton Optimist Club as they host a Fishing Derby for children of elementary school ages.
June 3rd – June 4th – Hurley Wellness Services hosts Kaleidoscope Day at Crossroads Village & Huckleberry Railroad! FREE admission into the village to check out some fitness activities, kids crafts, games, superhero activities and more. Tickets can be purchased for train and boat rides.
June 8th – 11th – The Festival of Flags makes its 71st appearance in the City of Davison. This has always been a fun-filled weekend that we look forward. Kicking the weekend off with the 5K Color Me Davison, you are sure to be busy with the parade, carnival rides, storybook characters, and fireworks!
June 8th – June 11th – Grand Blanc Chamber of Commerce is pleased to present Family Fun Fest – carnival rides, parades, corn hole contest and more! You won’t want to miss out on this.
June 10th – In conjunction with the Davison Festival of Flags and Michigan DNR Free Fishing Weekend, Lake Callis Recreation Complex is hosting a Youth Fishing Derby. Prizes will be awarded and the derby is open to children ages 3 to 12. Park entrance fee is included with registration. What a fun day at the beach this will be!
June 10th – The Flint Farmer’s Market and PLeTthorA are bringing back the Flint Festival for the second year! This all-day event held at the Flint Farmer’s Market will include live music, food trucks and more! FREE fun for the whole family.
June 10th and 11th – Celebrating its 50th year, the Flint Art Fair is pleased to bring back to the lawn of the Flint Institute of Arts, as many as 175 established and emerging artists – many of whom are from Michigan. Explore various genres including ceramics, glass, paintings, jewelry, metal, photography, wood and more!
June 11th – Springfield Township Parks & Recreation is hosting its Springfield Township Fishing Derby at the Shiawassee Basin Preserve Ponds in Davisburg. Bring your fishing poles and come on down for a free fishing weekend! Derby will be held rain or shine. Fishing licenses are NOT required and a catch and release is strongly encouraged. Prizes will be awarded on: dry casting, largest fish caught and most fish caught.
June 12th – Davison Township Parks & Recreation will host Yoga on the Beach at Lake Callis tonight and every Monday night through July 31st. Come out to work on your flexibility, strength, balance and relaxation. What better way to unwind on a Monday?
June 16th – Food Truck Friday in Flint! Join us at University Square. The first 60 people will receive FREE food. There will be no shortage of Food Trucks, free popcorn, lawn games, music and more!
June 17th – Do you like the Cars movies? The Genesee District Library is hosting a Private Screening of Cars 3 at NCG Trillium in Grand Blanc. Admission costs $5 and it gets you a pass for FREE popcorn.
June 17th – Beginning today and running every Saturday through August 12th, join Flint Handmade Street Fair: Art, Food, Music & More! at the Flint Farmer’s Market for a FREE family friendly event including shopping handmade, upcycled and repurposed goods, live music, food trucks, face paintings and make-and-take crafts!
June 21st – June 23rd – Hosted by the Clio Fire Department, join in the 80th Annual Clio Firemen’s Homecoming Carnival and Parade. This weekend celebration is always a hit in Clio. There is a parade, a new carnival company for 2017, fireworks, bingo and more. Be sure to check out the Facebook event for more information on presale tickets at discounted rates!
June 22nd – Lake Orion’s American Summer is hosting a Toddler Drive-In Movie beginning at 10 am today. Bring your little one (ages 3 – 6) to the Orion Township Public Library and design your own “box” car (boxes and extras are supplied). Enjoy your new “ride” as you watch Cars 2, snacking on popcorn.
June 23rd – Movies Under The Stars. Join us on the back lawn of Flint City Hall at 7:30p for Lego Batman, games, giveaways and fun! FREE popcorn and snacks, too! Make sure to bring your lawn chairs or blankets.
June 24th – 80’s in the Hole at Chevy Commons. It is sure to be a good time on the town (think mom’s night out or a date night) with this party from the 80’s. There will be a 1980’s car show, food and merchandise available and Jedi Mind Trip playing an outdoor show. You won’t want to miss this event (proceeds from this event benefit the Flint River Watershield Coalition).
June 26th – Join Lake Orion’s American Summer for Stories in the Park. This is a fun-filled event for all ages beginning at 11 am at Children’s Park in Lake Orion.
June 27th – Stroll Downtown Grand Blanc as Tuesday Tunes on the Musical Mile is presented by the City of Grand Blanc’s DDA.
