Have you ever searched in your heart for an answer just to find it right in front of you? Well, then you and I could be great friends. Hi there! I’m Kendra and I’ve spent my whole life living all over Michigan, but not ever feeling settled and always wishing I was south of the snow.
Romeo. Port Huron. Kalamazoo. Clinton Township. Waterford. Grand Blanc. Fenton. Now Hartland/Howell. Each Mitten moment has helped me discover just a little bit more of who I am and where I want to go in this life.
I used to think I wanted to leave the Great Lakes for the ocean and plan a perfect little life wrapped up in a box with a bow. But since becoming a mommy to my daughter {now 7}, struggling to balance full-time work and motherhood, and surviving a rough journey of divorce, I have realized that the best-laid plans for a future often go awry.
This moment is the only one we have.
My girl, who I call Sweet V, wants to be a ninja superhero when she grows up and lives life at 100%, chasing that dream every single day. From day one, she has truly taught me to embrace the moment we are in without forgetting what you want in your future. Becoming more mindful in the moment has helped to shift my whole perspective on motherhood and Mitten State living. I LOVE Michigan, its four full seasons, and the natural beauty our state has to offer. My new mindset is growing me as a momma and a woman!
When I am not teaching Young 5’s, you can find me meal prepping, reading, journaling, attempting the “crunchy” life, or pretending to be a yogi in the privacy of my own home. I have recently embraced the 4:45 a.m. work week wake up to ensure I have time to grow my faith walk with Jesus, reach fitness goals, and complete domestic tasks so I can focus on my daughter in the after school hours.
My favorite motherhood moments include spending time on the beach, walking different trails, exploring downtowns, cooking, snuggling, and singing in the car on the way to gymnastics together. Since Sweet V recently learned to ski, we are looking forward to some winter adventures to live our best lives in 2019!
When teacher/mom life wraps up for the day, I like blogging on my personal page, High Five for Home. You can follow my journey on the blog, Facebook, or Instagram @highfiveforhome.
I am so excited to be a Mid-Michigan Moms Blog contributor and connect with all of you wonderful moms in the Mid-Michigan area!
