Meet Christina: Teacher, Writer, and Reader

Hi everyone!

My name is Christina and I am thrilled to be a part of the Mid-Michigan Moms Contributor Team. I am a mom of three children, and even though it seems like I was *JUST* experiencing the baby years with all of them, they are growing up on me and are now age 11, 8, and 7. Christopher is our oldest and he has a witty sense of humor, a deep love of books, and is looking forward to starting middle school soon. Our son Jackson is a lover of all things pizza, baseball, and time spent with friends. Our daughter Evelyn is the youngest, but is full of moxie and could really run the whole ship if we let her. She is very independent and loves to cook and bake and craft. Isn’t it something how children who grow up in the same home and with the same parents can have such different personalities? That’s something that never ceases to amaze me as a mama.

I was born and raised in the same Mid-Michigan town all the way until I moved away to Ann Arbor for college. I married my high school sweetheart, Chris, in 2006. Soon after I graduated from the University of Michigan, we moved to North Carolina, where he was stationed with the Marine Corps. Three children and almost a decade later, we made our way back to civilian life and back to our shared hometown of Lapeer. When I was a teenager, I was so excited to get away from small-town life and see what else was out there. And now, while I still absolutely love to travel and explore all types of cities big and small {New York, London, Boston, and Nashville all have my heart!} I now count it as a privilege to raise my children in a smaller town and I embrace the more relaxed pace and the community aspect we have here.

In my professional life, I am passionate about helping people of all ages fall in love with reading and writing. I am a certified teacher and have worked for the past 12 years as an educator at the 1st-5th grade levels. I currently work as a Reading Interventionist in Imlay City, serving 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. I am a lifelong bookworm and feel that just about any problem in life can be solved by a good book. I also love to write and speak on various topics, such as faith, family, and grief, in no particular order. I am active in our local church and head up our Women’s Ministry Team. I love encouraging people and I love helping other women step into the positive truths about themselves.

Whenever I catch a spare few minutes, I am typically reading, completing puzzles, staring at my laundry pile and willing it to fold itself, or crying over the latest episode of “This Is Us.” I am so excited to get to know all of you better as I step into this new chapter as a Mid-Michigan Moms Contributor. I’m so thankful and honored to be a part of this wonderful group of women!
