Hello There! It’s me, Sarah! I am a crazy momma of two amazing kiddos! My boyfriend, Brandon, and I met a little over four years ago. Our lives just seemed to mesh and we eventually moved in together along with my daughter, Vivian. Shortly after, Brandon’s son, Alexander, also joined our home.

Our perfectly blended family shares a small but wonderful home, located in Imlay City, where I was born and raised {except for a few years I attended and graduated high school in Romeo}. We have two fat and lazy cats, Mirello and Chloe, that were found on the side of the road as kittens about three years ago and one very energetic two-year-old rescue dog, Ebony.

I love to garden and I have started to teach myself how to can, so you will find a small raised garden bed in our backyard and some homemade salsa and jam in the kitchen. I hate housework and procrastinate cleaning so you will also find a pile of clean laundry on the couch and dirty dishes in the sink.
I have this crazy habit of saying “yes!” to way too many things and then find myself drowning in my to-do list. I am working really hard on changing that and being ok with saying “no” but I love helping others which makes it very easy for me to say “Sure, I can do that for you!”
About two years ago, I left a full time corporate career because I wanted to spend more time with my kids and try to give my small home business a little boost. When I left that position I found myself working, volunteering and helping others way more than planned and actually spending less time with family. My loving boyfriend, Brandon, noticed this first and mentioned it. But it took me this entire past year before I realized just how much I was adding to my to-do list and how much it was taking me away from family time and other things that I enjoy. Being the amazing person he is, Brandon is helping me to understand that sometimes saying “no” to someone else is saying “yes” to myself and my family.

I am currently spending most of my time as a fundraising coordinator for Lapeer County 4-H Youth Program and as a care provider for a local daycare. I also substitute teach a few times a year and run an independent retail bookstore from my home. For the last two summers, I have managed Imlay City’s Farmers’ Market and coordinated the Summer Concert Series.
I have an Associate’s Degree in Arts, an Associate’s in Applied Science-Social Work and a Bachelor’s of Science in Public Health with a Health Education and Behavior Minor. I am a Registered Social Service Technician with the State of Michigan and a Certified Health Education Specialist. I am currently attending classes at the University of Michigan – Flint to obtain a Master’s Degree in Public Administration for Non-Profits.

I am a very busy {sometimes overwhelmed} mama that is learning to say “no” for the benefit of myself and my family. I am looking forward to Mid-Michigan Moms Blog being a “yes” for myself!
