Hi everyone! I’m Kelley. I’ve been married to my high school sweetheart for 13 years, and together we have six amazing children, ages 1-12. I stay home with our kids and try to teach them about beauty in nature, being self sufficient, and that there is much more to life than what is in our homeschooling text books!
I grew up in the city, but my heart longed to raise our family in the country. The kids have room to explore, and they get hands on experience learning how to homestead. Its not perfect. It’s messy, but that’s life. I love that our kids can get their hands dirty, run barefoot, wrangle chickens and sheep, and know what it is to be connected to your food and nature in a way that not everyone is anymore.
We live on 10 acres in the country, but only about 15 miles West of Fort Gratiot/Port Huron area. That means I can still get my city fix of great make-up at Ulta Beauty, great coffee and awesome local food at The Raven, and small, local businesses in Downtown Port Huron.
I love being so close to Lake Huron. We live at the beach in the summer, and we also enjoy walking along the boardwalk. I was born and raised in Michigan though, so I also love the snow, and the Fall. We live only a few miles from the Avoca Trestle, which is a part of the Wadhams to Avoca Trail. We love to ride our bikes and take nature walks there.
When I’m not busy running kids to 4H activities, gymnastics lessons, church, or homeschool gym and swim at the Bluewater YMCA, I enjoy fiber arts, writing, sewing, reading and singing.
I don’t have it all together, and I don’t always get everything done. I fail daily, but I press on because I know that means I’m trying.
I am in a place now though where I have a bit of experience under my belt, and a little practice juggling too. I am passionate about supporting and connecting with moms on this wild ride called motherhood. I want them to know that it’s not always hectic, it’s OK to want to be YOU and a mom, and you are not alone. Plus I just might have a few tricks up my sleeve to make life a little easier, that I’ve learned from having 6 kids.
Thanks so much for taking a minute to get to know me! I can’t wait to start connecting with moms in our community.
Let’s get started in the comments!
