Unless you are a planner, you don’t necessarily get a say when your child(ren) will be born. We have always celebrated my husband’s Winter birthday by going out to dinner with his parents. On the flipside, we celebrate my Summer birthday with a bonfire in the back yard. What a difference the season makes when celebrating! At least in my life. Our home is small. As in, not big. We cannot host events that require us to be indoors. And when we do, we make do, but not without a bit of struggle.
Enter baby #1. Born with a Winter birthday. We were on a mission to find birthday spots for our little beauty. We decided that not every birthday is going to be a huge “bash”. Her first birthday was and I have zero regrets about it. Birthdays #2, #3 and #4 will be on a much smaller scale, but we still want something fun to do! Birthday #5 will be a big deal, and probably the last that mom and dad can get away with planning on their own before input is offered.
I thought I would share with you some ideas for your Winter babies’ birthday party locations. If these hot spots don’t work for birthday parties, well, they make excellent play day ideas, too!
Here are my favorites:
Kazoo’s Family Entertainment Center
While this isn’t technically located within the boundaries of Genesee County, it was a quick 20 minute drive from our home in Genesee County. We actually celebrated our daughter’s 1st Birthday here. A clean, welcoming environment. Everyone was so friendly! Our birthday room was perfect, their onsite food delicious and activities plentiful, from face painting to bounce house playing and everything in between! We love visiting just to play, too! Great for children of all ages!
This is the location of birthday #2 and will technically be our first visit here since baby. I have high expectations based on what I remember from when I would take nieces and nephews here and experiences friends have shared! It’s the little things as adults that still excite us…for example, knowing the “Kid Check” still exists. Not to mention a no-fuss birthday party! Perfect for the young and young at heart!
Similar to Chuck E. Cheese, Daniel and the Dixie Diggers at Huckleberry Junction is a favorite hot spot for pizza and ice cream for the kids and the whole family, making it the perfect spot for a birthday party! We haven’t visited this for birthday parties, but we have visited for lunch and play as a family. So much fun had by all!
Several years ago, pre-baby, we attended a birthday party for a nephew here. All of the kids seemed to have a blast! Running, playing, and activities galore – no excuses for being “bored” here. The “Tot Spot” is a favorite in our house today! Our toddler can’t get enough! A fantastic family spot!
We spend one night each week doing Gymnastics in this facility and love it! The owner and her team of workers are amazing! I recently discovered that they host birthday parties here, too! Definitely keeping this on the back burner for future reference. Bounce. Jump. Burn that extra energy!
Of course, there is roller skating, ice skating, swimming at the Rec Center, and bowling to name a few.

Both my kiddos have December birthdays! My oldest was born at 1:44 am on December 26th! My second was born on December 10th. We have decided that with all the holiday craziness to have Summer Birthday Parties, one in June and the other in July. This way we know that friends and family are not already busy and we have more room to invite everyone we love instead of a select few.
I absolutely LOVE the way you think! We have talked about celebrating our daughters “half-birthday” for this very reason. Both of our families are relatively small right now, but I know as she gets older and builds bonds of friendships, we are going to have some large guest lists on our hands. This may be the perfect time to start thinking about a summer celebration! Thank you for sharing and replanting the idea!
