You’ve felt it, haven’t you?! That special, heartwarming feeling that you get as a parent when you and your children experience something fun and exciting together. That special occasion or event that offers the chance for you to experience the innocence, wonderment and joy of childhood all over again. For me, that event is Day Out With Thomas. In a word, it’s magical.
I have three kiddos, all of whom have shared a love of trains. Not only have we watched Thomas and Friends on television, but over the years we’ve accumulated quite the collection of trains, tracks, bridges and all of the fun accessories that go along with recreating the Island of Sodor in one’s living room. My boys have spent countless hours track building, creating and imagining with Thomas and his friends. When the opportunity presented itself to meet and ride Thomas in person, they were simply overjoyed. Our entire family couldn’t wait for Day Out With Thomas, The Friendship Tour at Crossroads Village!
The magic of Thomas is certainly all around at Crossroads Village! Thomas rolled down the tracks, and greeted us upon our entry into the park. We were able to meet him and take a family picture before hopping on board! Once seated, the conductor made it a point to interact with all of the children, making sure they were comfortable and safe while riding on their friend, Thomas. During the forty-minute train ride, we enjoyed listening to Thomas songs, and learning about the different places that Thomas was passing through on our journey. Even my 7 year old was transported to the Island of Sodor, and felt the magic of the ride! {let it be known that he is almost 8, a fact which he reminds me of daily!}

While riding on Thomas was certainly the highlight, if your children happen to be new to Thomas {or trains in general} there are so many other wonderful activities to experience at Day Out With Thomas! Some of our favorites included:
- Meeting Bob the Builder
- Making friends in the Corn Maze
- Building train tracks at the Imagination Station
- Greeting Sir Topham Hatt
- Bouncing on the Knapford Station inflatable
- Riding the mini-train and carousel
- Making mega-bubbles at the bubble station
My children were blissfully exhausted when it was time to bid Thomas farewell! We all had a lovely time. Not only were we able to reflect upon and remember the love of Thomas that our kids have nurtured and grown with throughout their young lives, but Day Out With Thomas allowed us to witness and experience the excitement and magic of childhood firsthand through their eyes. It was truly a day of magic and wonderment for all of us, an experience that we will always cherish.
Have you been to Day Out With Thomas before? The Friendship Tour will be at Crossroads Village & Huckleberry Railroad August 18-20, and 25-27, 2017.
