In my family, December 18th is labeled “Bake Cookies Day.” What better way to get in the Christmas spirit than to bake cookies, right?? Whether you’re a fan of plain old sugar cookies or you love something a little more artistic, you really can’t go wrong regardless of which kind{s} you choose to bake.
The past couple of years, I have decided to have a cookie baking day where my mother-in-law comes over and we bake cookies all day long. The best part about it is that my son helps, and he absolutely loves it. We make sugar cookies, frosting, and of course have tons of sprinkles. He loves using the cookie cutters and making them into different designs {gingerbread men, snowmen, Christmas trees, etc.}. Not only do we make a ton of Christmas cookies, but we also get to spend quality time together, which to me is the most important part of all of it.

Last year we made these sugar cookies. While I wish I was more of a “homemaker” and could whip up my own recipe, I’ll be honest and say that that is just not me. So, this recipe gets the job done and it’s easy which is even more of a bonus! We also made our own sugar cookie frosting which turned out really well. But if you’re not into that, the frosting from your local grocery store will work just as well. Don’t forget to buy a bunch of sprinkles, too! For kids, that’s the best part!
Baking cookies can be another tradition you add in to what your family does this time of year or it can be the first one you start. Either way, as long as you don’t mind a bit of a mess for a little bit, I guarantee the whole family will have a blast in the kitchen together; I know we do!

Does your family bake cookies together this time of year??
