October: 31 Days of Fall Fun!

As the weather starts to cool down and the spooky creatures start to come out, October is a great month to get out and check out all Mid-Michigan has to offer. It’s also a great time to spend some extra time celebrating all the fun October has to offer at home with some celebratory at-home, fall activities for the whole family.

Thursday, October 1st

Learn about the Harvest Moon: Take a Moon Walk to check out the Harvest Moon, make moon sand by mixing 4 cups flour with 1/2 cup vegetable oil for a sensory activity for all ages, or visit the Chippewa Nature Center for a Full Moon Watch from 7-8:30 PM.
 
Take a family trip to your local pumpkin patch and dress up your porch with pumpkins.

Friday, October 2nd

Frankenmuth Corn Maze Weekends are happening through October 31. Fridays: 7-10 PM, Saturdays noon-10 PM, and Sundays noon-7 PM.
 
Visit St. John’s Cider Mill for Food Truck Friday from 2-7 PM.

Saturday, October 3rd

Midland’s Fall Harvest Festival happens today from 10-4 PM at the Chippewa Nature Center.
 
The Fall Festival at Kensington Metropark begins today at noon. Enjoy crafts, a tour of the farm, visit craft and food vendors, and more at no cost.
 

Sunday, October 4th

Support your local farmers and businesses and check out a Farmers Market In + Around Mid-Michigan.

Monday, October 5th

Make a monster craft.
 
Head out for a family walk and gather leaves for a leaf rubbing art and craft.

Tuesday, October 6th

BOO your friends, family, and neighbors – Get Spooky With #2020Boos!

Wednesday, October 7th

Visit your local apple orchard with friends and grab some extra apples for tomorrow’s suggested activity.
 
Visit the Historic Farmers Market of Lapeer from 9-3 PM.

Thursday, October 8th

Friday, October 9th

Pack up some car snacks and head on out for a color tour.
 
Witches Night Out takes place downtown Fenton beginning at 4 PM.

Saturday, October 10th

Visit Midland’s Farmer’s Market.
 
Chippewa Nature Center in Midland hosts a Families in Nature: Fungi and Falling Leaves event from 2-3 PM.

Sunday, October 11th

MSU Federal Credit Union Virtual Dino Dash kicks off today and takes place throughout the week. Registration is free and if you have a dinosaur lover at your house you won’t want to miss this virtual event. Make sure to check out the event page and register!
 
Autumn at the Wigwam happens from 2-4 PM at the Chippewa Nature Center in Midland.

Frankenmuth’s Scarecrow Fest happens this weekend! Enjoy one of Mid-Michigan Moms’ favorite towns and check out all the scarecrows downtown Frankenmuth and see what’s happening during the festival at the Frankenmuth River Place Shops.

Visit the indoor Flint Farmers Market from 9-6 PM.

Freeze plastic spiders in ice cubes and add to some juice for the kids to enjoy.

It’s Frankenstein Friday! Use construction paper to make a Frankenstein craft to hang up for Halloween tomorrow.
