Spring Break {or any season of travel} can be both exciting and daunting, especially when you have young kids. Car seats can be one of the most annoying ‘extras’ we all have to travel with. Through my own experiences, I have found an awesome car seat to make it easier and can’t wait to share it with you. But first, consider whether you have to commit to traveling with one at all!

Before you go shopping for that perfect travel car seat, ask yourself these questions:
#1. Do you need to use a car on your trip?
Sometimes your destination offers the option of convenient public transit. Sometimes you won’t even be leaving the resort or hotel campus, so plan ahead and don’t worry about it if you don’t need one.
#2. Will your child be able to sit comfortably in a plane seat and stay in the seat?
For moms {or dads} flying solo, taking a car seat on the flight helps to keep your child contained so you can tend to another child or even take care of yourself!
#3. Does your airline count your car seat as checked baggage? Do they charge extra?
You will find most don’t. They also don’t charge for strollers. These two items are treated much like a wheelchair {they are necessities} so there are rules in place for allowing you to bring them along, no questions asked.
#4. How much is it to rent a car seat when you pick up your rental car?
This can be a good option if you don’t need a car seat on the plane ride. They offer a variety of car seat options depending on the age of your child and your needs, from five-point-harness systems to booster seats, take your pick!

Bonus: The Diano Radian is narrow, so they don’t take up a ton of room which is nice. So, feel free to rent that compact car and save a few bucks too!
