Can you even believe it’s that time of year already?? I swear we were just swimming in our beautiful Michigan lakes. Now I’m looking out my window, awaiting that first glistening snowfall and preparing for, gasp…CHRISTMAS!
This year in our home we have been talking a lot about gifting to others. It warms my heart that my girls want to make someone else smile this time of year. And by someone else usually I mean their dad, grandparents, even their best friends. But imagine my surprise when my middle daughter asked me what I wanted! ME??? I told her I didn’t need anything but it was SO nice of her to ask {I feel like that’s the standard answer right?!}. She carried on and on insisting there must be something I wanted.
It got me thinking not only about myself, but other mamas as well. A lot of times we are so focused on making everyone else happy that we forget to include ourselves in the holiday fun. Guilty as charged. But as my girls are getting older they are more observant and they want me to get into the action too! I can definitely relate to their feelings, some of my favorite Christmas memories are of my mom opening presents from my brother and I.
So I decided to throw together a quick list of ideas to help you get the perfect gift this year. Because let’s be honest, if your little ones are adamant about buying something it might as well be something you want or need!
Mom to Be
- Prenatal massage.
- Manicure and pedicure.
- Hair cut and color. Or a blow out.
- Actually just book a spa day because let’s face it, it’s going to be a minute before that happens again.
New Mom
- Ninja Coffee Bar to keep up with those sleepless nights.
- Meal service delivered, because who wants to cook with a newborn?
- Clothes that fit to help deal with that weird postpartum space where maternity clothes are too big and pre-baby clothes are too small!
Athletic Mom
- A nice pair of yoga pants. They do exist and they’re not see-through.
- A solid pair of running shoes.
- Gym membership.
Gifts for the Trendy Mom
- Mirrored aviator sunglasses.
- Favorite designer handbag, yes please!
- 14 karat rose gold monogram necklace.
Tech Savvy Mom
- Digital picture frame.
- Apple TV 4th Generation!
- Amazon Echo. I mean hello have you seen what the amazing line of Echo gadgets can do??
Working Mom
- Cleaning service {even if it’s just a one time deal} PLEASE someone else pick up!
- Erin Condren planner to help keep track of work meetings and soccer practice.
- A new tote that can handle a day’s worth of work and an evening full of sipppy cups and diapers.
Stay at home Mom
- Gift certificate to a local class: painting or cooking for example.
- A nice perfume to cover up the stench of 3 days no shower.
- Wine. There’s never enough wine.
If all else fails, just remember you can never go wrong with taking the kids and letting mom NAP!
