Hi! I’m Jessica, but please call me Jess! In 2017 my family moved from West Michigan to Linden so not only am I new to Mid Michigan Moms Blog, but also pretty new to the area. I am a wife, mom, Recreational Therapist, lover of sweet, red wine, good vegetarian food, and the outdoors.
My family of three is grounded thanks to my husband, Tyler. He’s a dedicated dad and husband who enjoys staying fit and healthy while encouraging and teaching others to do the same. Our lives collided in 2010 while attending Grand Valley State University. In the fall of 2013 we got married and started our lives together in West Michigan. He’s a good guy and if you have the chance to meet him you’ll be thankful you did.
I love being a wife, but life is as sweet as can be thanks to our daughter, Jade. This spunky little girl entered our lives in December 2015. It’s funny how a little human can teach you so much about life. Motherhood brings adventures and challenges and I truly believe us moms should stick together. I’ve learned that you can learn from different parenting styles and should do so, instead of judging them.
In 2011 I graduated Grand Valley with a Bachelors in Therapeutic Recreation to become a Certified Therapeutic Recreational Specialist (C.T.R.S.). I am self-employed and manage my own LLC as a C.T.R.S. For about 10 hours a week I spend my time as a contracted Recreational Therapist working with clients who have suffered a brain injury and/or spinal cord injury after a car accident. My work is spent being active, adapting, and enjoying recreation activities with my clients. Tyler’s side hustle is being a D.J. providing music for school dances and weddings and I help manage his business as well.
I love to enjoy the outdoors with Tyler and Jade, travel, and indulge in some good food and adult beverages with friends and family. The summer months are my favorite and are when I enjoy gardening, bonfires, multiple trips to Home Depot, and extra time with Tyler thanks to his job as a P.E. teacher.
My creative outlet is shared through my blog A Spoonful of Delight. I enjoy sharing about home decor, mom life, and happiness. The opportunity to contribute with Mid Michigan Moms Blog is an exciting new adventure and I can’t wait to meet the other amazing women who create the Mid Michigan Moms village!
