I am the oldest of three children. When I was younger, I said I never wanted kids. Fast-forward life and I have four little people that keep me on my toes! Motherhood has been a journey. I tell moms that it makes you a better person, it brings out your insecurities but gives you the strength to face and overcome them in order to be good examples to the little people you have created. I learn something new every day.
I’m originally a Motown city girl, that has lived in Mid-Michigan for 16 years. I’ve been married for almost 13 years. We have three girls and our youngest is a boy. Of course, our little boy runs everything while I’m learning what it’s like to be the mom of two pre-teens!
I work full-time and I have a private practice as a lactation consultant, YOLO {You Overcoming Lactation Obstacles} and as a postpartum doula. I enjoy all things, mom and baby. I am an advocate of breastfeeding and empowering women to advocate for their family and themselves. It brings me joy to help others.
When we aren’t busy, we love to try out different parks and water parks. We enjoy going to the movies and trying out the different seasonings on popcorn. We enjoy sports events, laughing and having fun being active.
On the weekend the hustle doesn’t stop. Either the kids have activities that require mom to be a taxi or I’m cleaning up to prepare for our next busy week.
I’m learning not to burn the candle at both ends and stop trying to be supermom. It has made me happier to not try to look like I have it all figured out. I’m on a journey to make self-care a priority. If I must put it in my planner to make sure it happens, I have to make sure that it does.
Between work, being a wife, mom, and entrepreneur, I must learn to be present and enjoy the little things.
