What Is National Donut Day?
Whether you like yours glazed, filled with custard or topped with sprinkles, nuts, or sugar – National Donut Day (the first Friday in June) is a fun day for kids (and parents!) to celebrate and learn a bit of history!
Did you know that the first National Donut Day was held on Friday, June 3rd, 1938 by the Chicago chapter of The Salvation Army as a way to honor women who prepared and delivered food to soldiers on the front lines in France during World War I? This day is celebrated still today annually on the First Friday in June as a way to continue to raise awareness and funds for The Salvation Army.
