Holiday Magic at Crossroads Village

If you want pure holiday magic, take your family to Crossroads Village this season. The second you take the kids out of the car and begin your nutcracker march to the village, you feel the making of a memory. There is so much charm, that you will soon forget about your almost frostbitten toes.

Upon entering, lights fill every tree and corner and you will be greeted by Frosty himself. The village has old stores, an eatery, little homes you can walk through, and of course, Santa. This Santa is legit. The whole experience is truly magical for the little ones. Santa’s beard is real and he truly takes time with each child. And because of the village’s vintage authenticity, my kids sincerely believe that they are visiting the North Pole.

Ok, the little grew to like Santa…

Although Santa is the main event during the holiday season at Crossroads Village, don’t forget the train. But before your train departs, grab a bag of hot kettle corn. They make it right in front of you in a little hut across from Santa and Mrs. Claus. You can devour the sweet kernels while viewing all of the fun and beautiful light displays during the ride. If the kids aren’t too cranky, try going at night. The kids will be mesmerized by the glowing shapes of Christmas.

If the kids can hang a little longer, there is also the carousel ride. It’s the fastest carousel in the state. And although it doesn’t seem that fast, it certainly can if the parents overindulge in booze the night before. Do not make that mistake. But the kids love the carousel, and at $1.25 per person or 4 for $4.00, it’s a nice perk that the village offers.

To simply inhale the magical season, bring the stroller, dress in extra warm clothes, and walk the village. The amount of work that goes into the making of the lights and sounds is tremendous. There is one tree specifically that is adorned exquisitely. Every branch is strung delicately. Taking a picture in front of it is a must.

There are tons of food options at Crossroads Village, too. As mentioned above, there is a small burger joint as you enter. This has quick eats for the family. There is also a large banquet room where there is pizza, donuts, and other options for the family. It’s a good place to recharge, too. Finally, there is a holiday buffet line with things like roast chicken and mashed potatoes.

The holiday season is a busy time, but if you can squeeze in the time to stroll through Crossroads Village, you will not be disappointed. If you’re anything like us, it will quickly become part of your family’s annual tradition.

Hi Everyone! I’m Angela and am honored to be joining this incredible group of Mid-Michigan Moms. While I'm usually a mom who wears several hats (writer, writing instructor, and volunteer), I'm currently homeschooling my two small kids. Together, we love adventuring into nature and reading All OF THE BOOKS.
