Bring on the Christmas Magic: We Encourage our Kids to Believe

December is a magical time of year. Lights, snow, trees, Santa, parties, gifts, giving, decorations, and so much more.

As a mom, I found a new love for Christmas. I truly witnessed the spirit of Christmas in my daughter’s eyes for the first time. Her innocence and her belief in something so magical is beautiful. Her Christmas spirit is why Christmas looks like it does in our house…

Santa brings toys to our house. He also brings clothes, electronics, movies, shoes, whatever Santa wants to bring.

Family members and friends buy what they want for our kids.

Elf on the Shelf flies around doing tricks and bringing treats.

We set up a village.

We build snowmen in the yard.

We drink hot chocolate overfilled with marshmallows.

We eat candy canes and roast marshmallows on the stove.

We read stories, listen to Christmas music, watch Christmas movies, and talk about Santa in our house.

Christmas is fun. It is exciting. We are constantly making memories together. We enjoy the little excitements of December. Our children are allowed to imagine and wonder. They are encouraged to believe.

I will be the first to say that I embellish Christmas stories. When my daughter wakes up full of excitement each day to find the Elf, I fill with excitement too. I love it. My daughter loves it. Because of that, I will not stop the fun.

I will not ask Santa to avoid toys. I will not send away the Elf on the Shelf. We will eat junk and play out in the snow. The Christmas spirit fills our house in all of the little things that this time of year has to offer.
