How many of us as adults can recall the wonderful memories of our summer camp experiences? For me, it was an overnight camp. It was an amazing two-week adventure that I will never forget, where I made friendships to last a lifetime. If I close my eyes on a pleasant summer day and breathe deeply, I can even recall the smell of summer camp: that crisp, fresh, sweet air mixed with a light and pleasant breeze coming off of the picturesque lake. For my husband, it’s the smell of a campfire, and the sounds of decade-old songs being sung around it with friends and family. For both of us, these wonderful snapshots in time from our youth are truly treasured keepsakes. We not only share these memories with our three young children, but we hope to foster and encourage the same experiences for them as they grow. Sure, summer camp is all about fun, but it’s also a growing and learning experience offering countless opportunities for kids to build their sense of self-worth through increased confidence in their overall abilities.
We are so fortunate to have a camp that embodies all of that and more, right here in Genesee County!
Nestled within 700 acres of beautiful and serene property in Fenton, Camp Copneconic is a true Genesee County gem. Camp Copneconic has a rich, local history dating back to the Chippewa Tribe, and has offered outdoor programs for youth and families since 1915. That’s quite a heritage! Blending its roots with modern day facilities, Camp Copneconic offers an amazing and wide variety of summer camp programming for children.
Summer 2017 summer campers are able to choose from the following Day and Overnight Camps:
Day Camps:
- Start at age 4
- Run from 8 am – 5 pm daily
- Choose from Classic Day Camps {starting at age 4} or Specialty Day Camps {starting at children entering 1st grade}
Overnight Camps:
- Start at age 8
- Run through the week of August 13th – 18th
- Choose from
- Classic Overnight Camps {each week is set with a different theme!}
- Specialty Overnight Camps {a camp experience focused more on your child’s own personal interests!}
- Partner Overnight Camps
- Camp Midicha, in partnership with the American Diabetes Association
- Camp Quality U.S.A., a support program for children living with cancer
- Camp Tall Tree, an overnight camp for children on the Autism Spectrum
- Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation – Camp Oasis
- Overnight Camp Themes! {can you say Oscar Night, Pirates and more?!}
With a long-standing reputation of caring staff, Camp Copneconic is a wonderful and safe summer camp, offering children a guiding compass of values, including the 5 Cs:

Campers have the opportunity to try and learn new things, make new friends, and connect with themselves and others amidst the beautiful surrounding environment. Ultimately, children are able to unplug from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and truly just be themselves!
