Nothing gets my family into the Christmas spirit quite like a chilly visit to the Christmas tree farm. We sip hot chocolate, enjoy sugar cookies, and spend far too long searching for the perfect tree to take center stage in our living room. While this tradition often comes with meltdowns, cold fingers, and at least one tired parent, the memories we make always outweigh the chaos.

To make choosing your tree a little easier, we’ve put together an updated list of Christmas tree farms across Mid-Michigan. Whether you want somewhere close to home or you are hoping to make it a full family day trip, this guide and interactive map will help you find the right spot and our resident real Christmas Tree expert Lyndsey even wrote a guide to ensure yours will thrive all season long!

Tips to Make Your Christmas Tree Farm Trip a Success
1. Pack plenty of snacks.
Bring more than you think you need: crackers, fruit, applesauce pouches, pretzels, raisins, trail mix, and anything else your kids will actually eat.
2. Bring water.
Cold weather can be deceiving. Everyone still needs to stay hydrated.
3. Dress warmer than you think.
Hats, gloves or mittens, warm coats, boots, and layers for everyone — including the adult who insists they do not need them.
4. Pack a backup outfit for each child.
It might feel excessive, but wet socks, spilled cocoa, and muddy knees happen every year.
5. Consider bringing a chainsaw.
Not required, but many farms provide hand saws only. When it is cold, a chainsaw can make the process much easier.
6. Bring hot chocolate and sugar cookies.
A simple way to make the outing feel special. Picking them up at the store on the way works perfectly.
7. Plan your music.
Load up your holiday playlist or tune into your local Christmas station for the drive.
8. Check the farm’s hours and availability before you go.
Christmas tree farms often have non-traditional hours and may sell out of certain tree types. Verify before loading everyone into the car.
